Since 1998, the Friends of Finn Square have maintained the garden, supported by donated funds and labor. Volunteers do all the planting and weeding (and considerable garbage collection), but there are also monetary expenses.

The Friends pay for essential pruning of the garden’s trees and the irrigation system that keeps the plantings green through the summer. We buy the bulbs that our volunteers plant in the fall, and annuals to plant in the spring. The Parks Department keeps the park clean and provides mulch and compost, but most of the work is done by your neighbors — and the bills are paid with private donations.
